Oral Medicine & Radiology
Oral Medicine & Radiology is that area of special competence concerned with the health of and with diseases involving oral and para oral structures. It includes those principles of medicine that relate to the mouth, as well as research in biological, pathological ,clinical spheres & Imaging. Oral Medicine includes the diagnosis and medical management of diseases specific to the orofacial tissues and of oral manifestations of systemic diseases. It further includes the management of behavioural disorders, the oral and dental treatment of medically compromised patients & Advanced Radiology”.
The Department of Oral Medicine and Radiology at MNR Dental College is equipped with state-of-art infrastructure and offers courses at undergraduate and post-graduate level. The teaching activities of the Department are geared towards training in basic science with the applications in clinical dentistry.
The courses consist of lectures, lecture reviews, differential diagnostics, demonstrations and clinical-pathological case conferences in small groups. Apart from mainstream academics and teaching and learning courses, the department also actively participates in researching a wide spectrum of areas in the field of Oral Medicine and Radiology as well as to keep in touch with the advances made in the field.
Vision
To excel in the field of Stomatology and Radio-diagnostic procedures of the maxillofacial region and to be a competent Oral Physician in treating disorders affecting stomatognathic system.
Mission
- To provide comprehensive dental treatment to the disorders affecting oral mucosa, tongue, salivary glands and TMJ.
- Application of advanced diagnostic procedures both in clinical and radiological sciences which will provide accurate diagnosis with effective outcome on accurate treatments.
- Teaching and hands on applications of ultra modern equipment both to undergraduate and postgraduate students which will make them competent in this ever growing evidence based dentistry.
- To produce internationally competent and skilled dental professionals with appropriate knowledge and ethical value.
- To provide appropriate technology mediated education with ICT methods in teaching, learning and evaluation.
- To instill in the students a sense of national pride with moral values and commitment towards society.
- To emerge as a department that integrates science and technology and to encourage the learning skills in a state of the art environment.
